Quiz Night

Welcome to a new school year!

We hope you’ve all had time to settle in, and both pupils and families are enjoying this fabulous school.

The Parents and Teachers association at Rogerstone School is now known as the PTA (formally the PFA). Throughout the year we hold various events, where we aim to raise money, and to hold social events for both parents and children. We form an important link between the parents, teachers, children and the community as a whole. We are registered as a Charity.

We have our own website where you can find details of all upcoming events, and see minutes of our meetings (great if you’re having trouble sleeping!)

You can also find links to
- SCHOOL HOLIDAY DATES FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS
- NEWS ABOUT THE NEW RAILWAY STATION IN ROGERSTONE
- LINKS TO EMAIL US (THE PTA)
- LINK TO THE SCHOOL OFFICIAL WEBSITE

Our website address is www.rogerstoneprimary.co.uk

We will be asking for your support and help throughout the year, in order to continue our good work. We realise not everyone can give up time to help at fete’s, disco’s and quiz nights etc, but every parent can help in one way or another.
For instance:
- By making a donation
- By responding to requests for bottles or gifts for the fetes
- By turning up at the fete’s and other events- just to have fun!
- By telling your neighbours and family about events we hold, and asking them to come along
- By using our WEBSITE as your homepage and using the GOOGLE search - we get money for each search made through our site, and by using our WEBSITE when you buy things from AMAZON - we get a percentage and it doesn’t cost you a penny extra!

If you can think of anything else you would like to see on our website please email or ring us and we’ll be pleased to consider it.

We hold friendly, informal meetings. You can find the date of the next meeting on the website- we’d love to see you there. It’s a whole new social circle!

We welcome feedback and suggestions. Please email webmaster at rogerstoneprimary dot co dot uk, or leave a letter at reception (addressed to the chairperson, PTA) Please include contact details if you would like a reply.

Over the last few years, the amount of children who bring a bottle has dropped considerably, and the Christmas fayre bottle stall has been rather empty, so PLEASE donate a bottle this year. (This is not compulsory, the children are still welcome without a bottle !)

These gifts range from a £1 to £5 They get to chose their gift (without mum or dad “persuading them” to buy something else!) and we wrap it for them to bring home and put under the tree. The only question is whether they will be able to keep the secret until Christmas day!

Do you have NEW/UNUSED GIFTS which would be suitable for sale on this day? If so please drop it at reception clearly marked for the PTA. You can include a note who its from, or make it anonymous. We’re grateful for all NEW items. (Put the in-laws present from last year to good use!)

Hello and Thank You

We hope you’re enjoying the surroundings of the new school building, and have had chance to see the fabulous displays of work in the foyer and corridors?!

At Christmas, we were able to utilize the new school to put on the Christmas fayre, and want to Thank everyone who attended, and especially those who gave up their time at this very busy time of year to help out organizing, running around, setting up/taking down and serving on the day of the fete.

Some of you may already know, but for those of you who don’t- we raised a massive £2000!!

This is an INCREDIBLE figure from a single event, and could not have been achieved without ALL those who helped out, and ALL those who attended and participated. We are always looking to improve the events. We realize that Father Christmas needs to be quicker next year, and we have already written to him to tell him!! If you have any other suggestions to improve the event PLEASE LET US KNOW!

Similarly, the Christmas Gift sale was a HUGE success – not only with the parents, but especially with the kids. Several parents have reported back to us that their children were more interested in passing on the gifts THEY had bought for parents, than opening their own. How wonderful that the children have pleasure from, and realized the importance of giving at such an early age. We didn’t set out to make money from this event, but due to the enthusiasm of both parents and kids, YOU raised over £400!! THANK YOU to the staff (for promoting it), the parents (for allowing kids to participate) and to the kids. (for such thoughtful gifts, we all loved them!)

Mothering Sunday

By special request, we will be running another “GIFT SHOP” for the children, especially for Mothers Day. All children will be able to buy a gift for the mother figure in their life. (and / or grandmother/nanny).

**IT IS NOT COMPULSORY for the children to participate in buying a gift.**

However, if your children usually BUY Mum, or a member of the family something for Mothering Sunday, we ask that you consider allowing your children to participate.

THERE IS A LARGE DISPLAY OF GOODS and ITEMS TO BE SOLD IN THE RECEPTION AREA OF THE SCHOOL- PLEASE CALL IN AND SEE THEM PRIOR TO THE SALE.

MOTHERS DAY SHOP DATES:-

Years 5 and 6 - Friday 8th March 2007

Rest of school (not nursery) - Thursday 14th and Friday 15th March 2007

If any of the nursery children parents would like their children to participate in this, you can bring the children to the Multi use room (off reception) THIS FRIDAY 8th March

Morning nursery- from 9am -9.30am or 11.20am-12.00 midday
Afternoon nursery- From 11.20-12 midday or until 1515 hrs.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NURSERY CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT- there will not be time for teachers to take them. (Parents can buy gifts/cards for THEIR Mum too!)

WHAT WILL WE BE SELLING?

We’ve worked hard on the gifts this time, and have opted to go for better quality items. We have purchased a range of stunning, quality, REAL SILVER jewellery, together with a range of costume jewellery, and traditional mothers day gifts, and gifts suitable for grandma/Nanny too. ALL the items will sell at prices well below their retail prices. For instance, a silver pendant which retails at £15.99 (at a well known high street catalogue shop) is being sold for only £6.50.

Silver jewellery prices are between £3 and £7.50, (most around £5-6). Costume jewellery between £2.50 and £5. All silver jewellery will be clearly hallmarked as silver. We also have 500 (good quality) mothers day cards @ 50p each.

All items will be beautifully gift wrapped prior to bringing them home.

In fairness to all, there is no upper limit on the amount your child can spend- and similarly, with gifts starting at just £2.50 we hope everyone wishing to buy gifts can take part.

*****IN THE INTERESTS OF SECURITY, NO JEWELLERY OR OTHER GIFTS ARE KEPT ON SCHOOL PREMISES, and EVERYTHING WILL BE REMOVED from the school between each sale.******

Here’s to opening something on Mothers Day which we’ll want to keep forever!!
Happy Mothers Day to everyone, from Rogerstone Primary PFA.

Please fill in and return on the day of YOUR CHILDs gift sale (see above dates)

DON’T FORGET TO SEND THEIR MONEY!!

Forthcoming Events

A PFA noticeboard will be erected just inside the school gates next week- please have a look to see what’s coming up!

Following the success of our Fashion night before Christmas, several Mums have complained they were not invited or did not hear of the event until after it had happened. We’re sorry if you missed out- there are only a handful of us to spread the word, and will endevour to advertise more in future.

ADVANCE WARNING…> LADIES PAMPER AND FASHION NIGHT..>
FRIDAY 27th APRIL 2007.

The Alcan Club (also known as Rogerstone and Bassaleg Social Club )

Tickets will be just £3.50 - there are limited tickets, so if you want to reserve a ticket before they are released please contact us or approach one of the committee members – a list of which are in the outer foyer (with contact numbers). Outside exhibitors will be considered - do you have a product to sell?

So far, in addition to fashion which will be for sale on the night, there will be jewellery, body shop and lingerie. Best of all, the bar will be open so come and socialize for a few hours- make new friends and raise money for this fab school!

Also being organized : RACE NIGHT at the Alcan Club. We’re very conscious that a lot of our events are aimed at the ladies, so here’s one for us all to enjoy. See noticeboard for further info.

Happy new year from the PFA!!  Let's hope 2007 is as successful as 2006.  We can all be proud of the fundraising we achieved in 2006 - which was topped off quite nicely by raising TWO THOUSAND POUNDS at the Christmas fete.  Wow!!   Well done and a big thank you to everyone that helped and made this possible.

News - 22 November 2006

Mrs Miles has kindly agreed to allow us access from 3.30pm on Friday 1st December, and she will arrange for Year 6 to bring out all the tables to the hall before this time

This is a massive help to us and should ensure everything gets done on time. We therefore require helpers to attend at the school anytime from 3.30-6pm on this date (Fri 1st Dec). Prior to the fayre we will need to:

1. set the tables out
2. Decorate santa's grotto ready for his arrival!
3. stack the relevant prizes to the relevant stalls.
4. Familiarise ourselves with the layout and where we are all situated 5. Ensure we all know how our stall is run and what we're charging

The more of this we can do on Friday, the less there will be to do on Saturday morning, so please make every effort to attend, and bring a helper!

If you ARE able to attend on the Friday, please drop an email to Tracy Williams, at tracyTYDU@rogerstoneprimary.co.uk (remove TYDU) or text 07793 317598

If anyone has spare tinsel or anything to decorate the grotto with please bring it with you.

Everyone has put a tremendous amount of effort into this fayre, so THANK YOU in advance!!

Latest News from 8th November - NEWSLETTER

Well its been a hard year for us all, and I’m sure we’re all beginning to feel the benefits of being reunited into one premises, and benefiting from the fabulous surroundings of the new School. A BIG thank you to everyone who has supported the Parents and Friends Association (PFA/PTA) in the past year- with your help we managed to buy lots of equipment for our children, the largest purchase being the outside play equipment for the new school. There is still more to buy to enhance our children’s learning, and hopefully you’ll support us in some of the following events.

PLEASE spare a thought for the volunteers who give up their own time and effort to organise these events – and come to support us. Although our primary aim is to raise funds for OUR children’s education, there are always plenty of laughs along the way ! (Especially at events where the bar is open!).

Some of the upcoming events are highlighted below.

Friday 10th November – Ladies night shopping Extravaganza 7.30pm at the Redwood Club, clothing for ladies and children, jewellery, shoes, lingerie. All the models for the fashion show are mums and grans from Rogerstone. Tickets are only £3.50 and available at the Redwood Club, on the door, or phone 07919 384 035 for delivery of tickets.

Saturday 2nd December – Christmas Fayre starting at 1pm. This is the first big event to be held at the school since it opened. There are loads of stalls, raffle, tombola, hotdogs, crafts, jewellery etc, etc. WE NEED HELP!! If you can help for an hour or so on a stall, please contact one of the PFA members, or call Tracy on 07793 317 598. Also, if you have a business or hobby and would like a stall, call Tracy on the above number.

6th and 7th Decembeber – This is a completely new venture for the PFA which has been agreed by Mrs Miles, and will give our children the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts for us, ENTIRELY from them. During 6/7th Dec each class will be given a chance to visit the hall where the PFA will have a “ shop” set up. We’ve sourced many gifts for both ladies and gents which we think the children will enjoy buying as presents for their parents. Because we’ve used wholesalers, the gifts will be sold to the children at LESS THAN THE RETAIL price, but the PFA will still make a small amount for the school.  If you want your child to be able to take part in this, please allow them to take money into school on 6th and 7th December. (You will be notified of the date your child’s class will take part nearer the time) Once your child has chosen their gift, the PFA will help them wrap it, and they will bring home a Christmas gift, “especially for you”. Gifts range from £1-£5, so every child should be able to take part.

Saturday 9th December – Cheltenham shopping Trip. Luxury coach departing from Rogerstone Primary school. A bargain price of £11 per seat. Telephone Helen: 07855 613 135.

Wednesday 20th December – Christmas discos. These are funded and staffed by PFA for the enjoyment of the kids. If you’re attending with kids and would like to volunteer to lend a hand (nothing too taxing, just handing out refreshments or watching the doors etc) please ring Tracy Withers on 07791 777 901

Get rummaging in your drawers! As an “Entry fee” to the disco, we usually ask you to donate a bottle. However, this year the discos will take place AFTER the Christmas Fayre, so we will be very short of prizes for the tombola, lucky dip and raffle. PLEASE have a dig about for unwanted gifts from last Christmas, or for new clothes you’ve bought and failed to return before the 28 days! (come on ladies we’ve all got one hidden away from the family now’s our chance to get rid of it!)

We will have volunteers at the bus stops on Tuesday 14th November to collect bottles or gifts. Please give generously- this is a way of directly raising funds for Rogerstone school. If you would like to make a donation instead or as well as donating, please contact Katherine Fraser on 07919 384 035.

We will also have volunteers at the school in the morning and afternoon on Wednesday 15th November to collect your donations. If you don’t see a volunteer, please take your donation to the multi use room any Friday from 3pm (through reception). ** We still sell school uniform/ PE KIT from 3pm every Friday (except 10th November ) at the school- enter through reception and turn right***

Do you buy from the Internet? PLEASE set us as your homepage by going to www.rogerstoneprimary.co.uk and clicking the link. If you use GOOGLE or AMAZON through the PFA website we receive money but it costs you nothing extra.

AND FINALLY! a reminder – The PFA welcome parents / guardians to come along to our meetings and join in. The next one is on Thursday 9th November at 7.30pm at Rogerstone School. We are always looking for volunteers to help with events, so even if you can only spare us an hour we will be grateful.

We realise there is too much information on this sheet, and that unless you’re super human you just won’t remember half of it, so please find attached a NOVEMBER/DECEMBER schedule (you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader, click HERE if you don't have it installed), which you can write your own events onto as well as seeing the school events which are looming.

Latest News from 8th November - RUGBY TICKETS

Konica, the firm who supplies the school’s photo copiers have donated 4 rugby tickets for the WALES v PACIFIC ISLANDS match which is taking place this Saturday, 11th November with a 2.30pm kick-off.

As the tickets were only given yesterday we do not have time to organise a raffle, so we have decided to ask for sealed bids by Thursday at noon. The school will then contact the highest bidder Thursday afternoon.

You can either bid for two or four tickets. The ticket details are as follows:

BLOCK U31 ROW 4 SEATS 23, 24, 25, 26

So get your bids into the school asap!

CHRISTMAS CONCERT VIDEOS

Why fret about trying to get a good seat for the Christmas concerts to video from when you could just buy a video from the PFA?

Sound like a good idea? If so read on……

This December we’re planning on videoing either the school Christmas concerts OR the rehearsals OR both. We then intend to put all of this footage onto one DVD and sell it for a fiver.

HOWEVER – there are a LOTS of dates to cover and I still have a day job to do!! So what I need is for 2 volunteers for each day (a primary and a standby) that can come to the concert and record the event.

The volunteers just need to turn up (60 minutes before the start of the event) - and bring their own video camera (either MINI-DV, HI-8 or DVD) – and record the event. I’ll then collate all the tapes and put onto DVD.

Here’s the dates in question:-

CONCERTS

a) Tue 12 December – Nursery (not sure how many concerts and at what times)

b) Wed 13 December 10:00 – Morgan/Cook/Dunn/Davies

c) Thu 14 December 10:00 – Cunningham/Boladz/Jenkins

d) Fri 15 December 10:00 – Murphy/Lewis/Withey/Pridham/Price

e) Tue 19 December 10:00 – Birch/Sweet/Jones/Wiltshire/McLeod

REHEARSALS

f) Mon 11 December 09:30 – KS1

g) Thu 14 December 2.00 – Y3/Y4

h) Mon 18 December 10:00 – Y5/Y6

I think we’d be nuts if we tried to video the concerts AND the rehearsals, so we’ll have to choose. Personally I’d rather have a video of the real thing – but I’d obviously welcome comments.

Also collating the tapes and putting onto DVD and then running off loads of copies is going to be very time consuming, so I want to gauge interest first.

So please can EVERYONE email Brad the following information (see the WHO ARE WE page for the email address)…

NAME :

PARENT OF :

EMAIL ADDRESS :

WHETHER YOU’D PREFER TO GET A DVD OF YOUR CHILD’S REHEARSAL OR ACTUAL CONCERT :

Also, if you’re prepared to volunteer to film the event, please email Brad with the following info (see the WHO ARE WE page for the email address)…

NAME :

PARENT OF :

EMAIL ADDRESS :

ADDRESS :

LANDLINE & MOBILE NUMBER :

LIST THE SLOTS YOU’D BE ABLE TO DO THE VIDEO : e.g. “a, c, d & g” or “e only” or “i could do all of the events” etc etc

TYPE OF CAMERA YOU HAVE (MINI-DV, HI-8 or DVD) :

I’ll then draw up a rota – or depending on the response I get I may abandon the entire thing!!  But let’s hope not. C’mon – send me those replies and volunteer...!!!!!!

Thanks

Brad

On the front page of the PFA website (at the bottom right), there is even a link to make the PFA website your home page.  Go on - try it out!!

NEWS FROM 15 JUNE 2006

Baseball Hats

We’re selling navy baseball caps embroidered with the school logo – invaluable during this hot weather! They cost £3.95 each and they’ll be sold before school on Monday 19th June at Westfield. If you want to buy one, please send the money in with your child on Monday and we’ll send them home with a hat. We’ll also have a stall set up in the Rogerstone yard after school on the same day, if you’d rather buy one then. Unfortunately we’ve had problems obtaining beanie-style hats, so we only have baseball hats available. Any other queries, please contact any PFA member.

Summer Discos

These will be on Tuesday 27th June at Griffin Hall, Bassaleg High School.  Infants disco 5.30pm-6.30pm and Juniors 6.45pm-7.45pm.  We’re not charging an entry fee, but like last year, we’d appreciate bottle donations for our fete tombola stall. As always, please can adults carry any glass bottles of alcohol, thanks.

Summer Fete

This will take place at Ty-Du Welfare Ground on Sunday 2nd July, 2pm-4pm.  We’ve got lots of stalls lined up again this year, some familiar and some new: cake stall, splat the rat, pick-an-envelope game, tombola, lucky dip, jam jar ping pong, lollipop pick, hook a duck, raffle, refreshments, etc. We’ll also have a rodeo bull ride, a bouncy castle and slide, and dancing displays. Obviously, a lot of work is going on behind the scenes to prepare for the day – but if you can help in any way please let Jude know (tel. 894511). We’re looking for cake donations, helpers on stalls, raffle prizes and also people to help us put up gazebos beforehand. The support we’ve had from parents for the last two fetes has been fantastic, so long may it continue! It’ll be a great afternoon out for all the family.

Other News

Just to let you know that the Plant Sales raised £154, the Belooshie Blues Brothers evening raised £200 and the eBay auction of a rugby ball signed by last year’s Welsh Grand Slam Champions raised a whopping £360! We’ve lots planned for the future, including a commemorative gift for each child when the new school opens, a Ladies Fashion Show, a shopping trip to Cheltenham, and, of course, the Christmas Fayre. Keep up to date with everything that’s going on by subscribing to our email newsletter – visit www.rogerstoneprimary.co.uk for details.

PFA SPRING NEWSLETTER

As you are all probably aware the new school is on schedule and our children will hopefully all be back on site at Rogerstone in September. Last year the P.F.A. agreed to raise £10,000 to purchase large wooden play equipment for the new school playground and to date, with your help and support, we have raised £6,000 - so we are only £4,000 short of our target!!

Below are some details of events we have planned in the coming months. We hope you will be able to support us by attending these events and help us reach our target.

Friday 5th May - Plant sale at the Rogerstone site at 3.00p.m (weather permitting), If there are any keen gardeners amongst you who may have plants to spare at the time, then we’d be grateful for any donations. There are very few of us with green fingers!!

Friday 12th May - We thought it was about time we organised something for the adults for a change, so why not join us for a great evening and ask friends and relatives to come along too! See HERE for full details  (you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Click HERE if you don't have it installed), tickets are now available.

Sunday 2nd July - Our annual Summer Fete at the Welfare Ground from 2.00 - 4.00pm. We have already started organising this event but each year it seems to get bigger (and better) and any additional help would be very much appreciated. Please contact us if you can help with the preparations and/or on the day.

You can keep up to date with all our activities and contact us via our website - www.rogerstoneprimary.co.uk.  For those of you who shop online with Amazon please use the link on our website to place your orders as we then get a percentage of the sale - we have received over £100 to date, it doesn’t cost you any more and we do nothing except bank the cheque! We also receive money if you use Google via our link, so remember us when you do your ‘surfing’.

Happy holidays from the P.F.A.

FETE NEWSFLASH

Dear Parents, Guardians, Friends and Children,

Just a quick note before we all go off on our holidays, to thank everyone who supported and helped at our fete last Saturday. We were thrilled with the turn out and hope that everyone had an enjoyable afternoon.

We can’t give you the exact figure raised as yet but after expenses we think it will be in the region of £2,000, even more than last year!

Special thanks to everyone who made cakes for the fete and brought bottles to the disco for our tombola, these two stalls made almost £400, so many thanks for your generous donations.

Congratulations to Year 6 pupils who together raised over £250 on their stalls, a fantastic achievement and our thanks to the children who participated and their parents for all their help.

We hope you all have great summer and look forward to seeing you in September.

Regards, the P.F.A. Committee.

WEBSITE

The website is looking really good and is steadily raising money from our affiliation with Amazon (if you order from this company, please do so via the link on our site and the PFA fund will benefit). Keep yourself updated with our activities and contact us – visit www.rogerstoneprimary.co.uk

SUMMER DISCOS

These will be held once again at Griffin Hall, Bassaleg School, on Thursday 14th July.

Key Stage 1 5.30-6.30pm
Key Stage 2 6.45-7.45pm

Entry fee: a donated bottle for our fête tombola stall. This could be anything from a bottle of bubble bath to a bottle of wine. Obviously, we don’t want any children carrying glass bottles of alcohol, so please ensure that an adult carries these into the disco. Refreshments for the children will be provided free of charge. Cars to enter through the school’s rear gates as before.

SUMMER FETE

Hooray - work has started on our new school! Due to the building site at Cefn Wood, this year’s fete will be held at the

Rogerstone Welfare Ground on Saturday 16th July, 2-4pm

We’ll have lots of stalls, activities and the entertainer Mysteeny there so it should be a really good day out for the whole family.

Please note: parking will be extremely limited (there’ll be a cricket match taking place at the same time) and we can’t allow the tiny lane down to the field to be blocked with parked cars (it must be kept clear for emergency vehicles). Please, please leave your cars at home and walk to the event if at all possible (for instance, along the river from Afon Village). Please be considerate – we’ll want to hold next year’s fete here too.

NEW FUNDRAISING TARGET

Mrs Miles has asked us to raise £10,000 to help pay for new playground climbing equipment and a commemorative mosaic mural at the new school. A tall order – but we’re up for the challenge! Please support us …… your children will be the ones who benefit.

PFA Meetings are held in the Nursery on the first Thursday of every month (term time only). Next Meeting: Thursday 7th July 7.30pm.

NEEDED FOR THE FETE

Cakes

Are you good at baking? We’d love some donations for our cake stall. Large cakes for slicing or small individual cakes would very much appreciated.

Helpers

We need people to put up gazebos, run stalls, sell raffle tickets, make cups of tea etc. We’d be grateful for any help offered, even if it’s just for an hour.

EMAIL WINE COMPETITION

We've looked to see who's given us their email addresses for the Rogerstone PFA email list - and we've picked out 3 names at random.  These lucky winners will be notified soon, and a bottle of wine will be coming their way!

PLANT SALE

On Friday May 6th there were a group of willing volunteers at the Rogerstone site selling plants. We raised £70!!!!   Yes, £70 - just from selling plants.  Well done everyone!!!  See the pictures by clicking HERE.

SUMMER FETE

After last year’s successful event we are once again hosting a fete which is planned for Saturday 16th July at 2.00 p.m. As always we are looking for helpers to assist with preparations and to run stalls on the day, so if you can help in any way please let us know by contacting Judith Naylor on 894511, Joanne Peterson on 894901 (or contact us ON LINE) or pop along to our next meeting.

EARLY YEARS YARD PROJECT

This project was completed during the Easter holidays and for those of you who have seen it, we think you’ll agree that the yard now looks fantastic and it is a huge hit with the children (and staff). Again we had a fairly poor response to our request for volunteers to help, although we appreciate that some families were away on holiday and it was all arranged at short notice.

See the pictures by clicking HERE

Those named below were all involved and deserve a pat on the back for all their hard word and giving up their time so generously - the sun shone all day and apart from some aching muscles, an enjoyable day was had by all.

Our grateful thanks to :-

Paul Smith, Michelle Morris, Miss Healey (Class 1), Sharon and Simon Herritty, Steve Short, Tracy Williams as well as our committee members Judith Naylor, Kerry Short and Joanne Peterson.

Not forgetting our younger helpers, Tom Peterson and Phillipa Herritty (Class 6) who worked so hard on the house. (Hope you’ve both been forgiven for getting so much paint on your clothes and trainers)!

Also a special mention to Rhiannon Short and Isabelle Herritty (Class 1), who both behaved brilliantly, inspired the team and somehow managed to avoid the wet paint all day - no mean feat.

WELL DONE EVERYONE - IT JUST GOES TO SHOW WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH A LITTLE ORGANISATION, GOOD WILL AND LESS THAN £120 !!!

There will be a chance to buy plants at the Rogerstone site between 3pm and 4pm on Friday May 6th. Come and have a look whilst waiting for the bus. All money will go towards the PFA, and hence your children!

NEW PFA WEBSITE

We are keen to improve communications with parents/guardians and to this end we have decided to have a new improved website which is being designed by Brad and Maria Hughes. It should be up and running soon and we’ll let you know when you can try it out by e-mailing you at the time. We can then keep you up to date with our news and activities and you can contact us with your views and ideas as to how we can all pull together for the benefit of the school and our children.

Please provide us with your contact details on the slip sent out and then return to your child’s class teacher (or even quicker, by subscribing ON LINE).

All completed slips returned by Friday 6th May will also be put into a prize draw with a bottle of wine for the three lucky winners.

PLAYHOUSE

Our thanks also to Mr Chris Reeks for providing the transport to remove the playhouse from the Boiler House, which will soon be demolished. The playhouse
has been safely re-sited courtesy of Andy Naylor and Ray Peterson - many thanks.

ONE HUNDRED CLUB

Unfortunately we have been unable to go ahead with the setting up of this club as we only had about 30 replies from parents which was very disappointing, especially as there are over 400 pupils in the school. Our thanks though to those who supported the idea and trust you have all now had your cheques returned.

NEXT PFA MEETING

Our next meeting will be held at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday 28th April at the Nursery. We have a great group of very committed members but it would be lovely to see some new faces for a change - why not get involved and do your bit to support the school - your child/children are the ones who benefit from our efforts, so pop along and bring a friend if possible, the more the merrier.

LUTON VAN REQUIRED

The playhouse has been dismantled due to it being vandalised.  We have found somewhere for it to be kept until it can be sited safely (we hope) on the new school site in September 2006.  However, we need to move it from Rogerstone to Pontymister and wondered if there was a parent/guardian who had access to a large enough vehicle to transport it for us before the end of term - we will of course cover any costs incurred.  Please CONTACT US if you can help.
